Will someone walk me through this?(Solve by elimination)

Equation 1 : 7x - 2y = 37

Equation 2: 4x + y = 19

Answer:

x = 22.75 & y = - 15

Step-by-step explanation:

The equations are ;

7x - 2y = 37        ( equation 1 )

4x + y = 19           (equation 2 )

Now multiplying equation 1 by 4 ,

28x - 8y = 148       (equation 3)

Now multiplying equation 2 by 7 ,

28x + 7y = 133       (equation 4 )

Subtracting equation 3 with with equation 4,

we get x = 22.75 & y = - 15
